Missouri State Highway Patrol Report
Troop I of the Missouri State
Highway Patrol recorded acci-
dents occurring in Crawford
County or involving its resi-
dents from January 26 to
February 1.
An accident occurred on
Hwy 19, two miles north of
Salem on January 26 at 12:11
p.m.
A 1996 southbound Nissan,
driven by Jack Bullock, 70, of
Salem pulled into the path of a
northbound 1989 Freightliner
driven by Steven Harmon, 48,
of Steelville, upon exiting a pri-
vate drive.
Harmon's vehicle struck
Bullock's. Bullock sustained
minimal injuries and sought
his own treatment. There was
total damage to his vehicle.
Harmon's vehicle was mod-
erately damaged and was driv-
en from the scene.
Both parties wore seatbelts.
Bullock was cited for careless
and imprudent driving.
An accident occurred on
January 27 at 8:30 a.m. on 1-44
at the west edge of Sullivan.
A 2002 westbound Ford driv-
en by Randy Hansen, 39, of
Fort Leonard Wood, lost control
of the vehicle on ice covered
roadway and slid off the right
side of the road.
The vehicle then struck a
fence, overturned and came to
rest in the north outer road at
• Route WW on its top.
Hansen refused treatment
at the accident scene. He sus-
tained minimal injuries, hav-
ing worn a seatbelt.
There was total damage to
the vehicle and no citations
were issued.
An accident occurred on
January 29 at 9 a.m. on
McPherson Road, three miles
east of Cuba.
A 1991 southbound Ford,
driven by Ray Copling, 43, of
Leasburg, lost control on an ice
covered roadway, slid off the
left side of the road and struck
a tree.
Passenger Ray Copling, Jr.,
23, of Leasburg was transport-
ed by North Crawford County
Ambulance to Phelps County
Regional Medical Center in
Rolla to treat moderate
injuries.
Neither party was wearing a
seatbelt. Damage to the vehiclp"
was moderate.
Copling was cited for no
insurance and no seatbelt.
An accident occurred on
January 31 at 11:15 p.m. on
Blue Springs Road, six miles
south of Bourbon.
A 1995 westbound Ford,
driven by Richard Ramstein,
47, of Bourbon, traveled
around a corner and skidded off
the left side of the roadway.
The vehicle struck a large
tree on the driver's side.
Ramstein was transported to
Missouri Baptist Hospital in
Sullivan by private vehicle to
treat serious injuries.
He was not wearing a seat-
belt. The vehicle was totaled.
Ramstein was cited for DWI
and careless and imprudent
driving resulting in an acci-
dent.
Crawford County Sheriff's Incident Report
January -Deputy Grissom
took a theft report from a
resident north of Cuba.
The homeowner stated that
he had tool box stolen along
with various hand tools from
his trailer which he parked
near a building.
Several possible suspects
were identified and the inves-
tigation continues by this de-
partment.
January 6-Deputy More-
land responded to a residence
near Steelville for a domestic
disturbance in progress.
The victim stated that his 27
year old son had put some
fire wood in a stove, then
opened the door of the resi-
dence to let the smoke escape.
When the victim closed the
door, his son became very
irate and verbally abusive.
The victim stated that no
physical violence had taken
place this time, but his son
had been physically violent
in the past.
The parties were separated
for the evening and the Mis-
souri Violence 12 hour rule
was invoked. A report was
filed to document the inci-
dent.
