The Bourbon High School speech team hosted
cOnference meet at BHS, on January 24. As a
they have moved up a spot from being in
place at the last meet, to fourth place at

Girls vs. Newburg

The Lady Warhawks played the Newburg
Wolves on January 19. The Warhawks won 55-
36. The leading scorer for Bourbon was Lindsey
Machelett with 20 points.
Machelett was followed in scoring by Miriah
Anderson with 10. Tara Bobbitt led on the defen-
sive end with 11 rebounds and Cassandra Bailey
followed her with three.
The Warhawks outscored the Wolves in every
quarter except the third and came out victori-
ous.
"The girls played hard and it's good that they
won," Zach Hudson said.
"I was impressed with the great effort that
they showed," Ryan Pilkenton said.
"It was a great win for the girls against a
tough opponent," Robert Harness said.

learned that the PHA is cur,

elderly. Housing Program
Manager Linda Hollandsworth
reported that the disabled and
elderly have an average annual
income of $9,508 per year.
Hollandsworth said the PHA
is 95 percent leased for the
month and for the year to date,
which began Oct. 1, 2003. The
PHA has paid rents totaling an
average of $190,733 each of the
last four months.
Housing assistance is pro-
vided to very low income resi-
dents who meet federal income
criteria and other eligibility
requirements.
MRPC takes applications for
rental assistance on Tuesday
and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to
11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4
p.m. at its office at 4 Industrial
Drive in St. James. Persons in
Washington County can meet
with housing staff and com-
plete applications from 9 a.m.
to 12 p.m. on the first and third
Tuesdays at the Washington
County Library, 235 E. High
St. in Potosi.

We have just finished our first
full year. We had a party for
Valentine's Day, Easter, the
Leasburg Freedom Fest on
July 4th, Halloween, and
Christmas. At Christmas, due

vide them with Christmas gifts
and food, and helped two more
with emergency financial
