w 12A--April 3, 2003 The Cuba Free Press The Full Monty to be at The Fox Theatre April 15-27 Broadway veterans Chris- tian Anderson, Cleavant Derricks, Robert Westenberg and Jane Connell star in the national touring production of The Full Monty. Broad- way's "terrific new musical," will make its St. Louis pre- miere for two weeks only at the Fox Theatre, April 15-27, 2003. Curtain times for the U.S. Bank Broadway Series pres- entation are Tuesday through Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m, and Sunday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. With a book by Tony@ Award winner Terrace McNally and music and lyr- ics by pop composer David Tarbek, The Full Monty is directed by Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell. Anderson, who leads the cast as Jerry Lukowski, most recently appeared in Wit at the Geffen Playhouse, and played Mark in Rent on Broadway and Roger on the national tour. Tony@ Award winner Derricks (Dreamgirls) will play Noah "Horse" T. Simmons, other- wise known as the "big black man." Tony@ Award-nominated Westenberg (Into the Woods) plays the rigid Harold Nichols. Westerberg's other Broadway credits include 1776, The Secret Garden, Les Miserables and Sunday in the Park with George, among others. Jeanette Burmeister, the strippers' rehearsal pian- ist, will be played by Jane Connell, who played the role on Broadway. Four-time Tony@ Award- winning writer Terrence McNally adapted the screen hit for the stage and added his own unique brand of American comedy to the story. "The show is about friendship, and abut being a parent," said McNally "It's also about an image obsessed society that says you have to look like Brad Pitt. This show says quite the opposite. It celebrates everybody for ex- actly who they are." To help the story feel closer to home, McNally moved it to Buffalo, NY from Sheffield, England, where the original movie took place. When it opened on Broad- way in October 2000, The Full Monty was hailed by critics as a "genuine musical com- edy," "full of brilliance," "witty," and "exhilarating." The New York Post said, "it's a blockbuster. A one-of-a-kind Broadway musical." The Full Monty closed a successful two-year run on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Genealogical Society to meet The Phelps County Genea- logical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Tues- day, April 15, 2003 at 7 p.m. at the Phelps County Courthouse Multi-Purpose Room in Rolla.
