Mlmbe FDIC I'm a redneck My name is carved on the back of my belt, I walk in my old work boots. I drive an old Ford pick up truck, I know not of my roots. I live in a trailer high on a hill, money I have not. People yell when they drive by, but not for what I've got. They all yelled redneck when they drive by, I don't give a damn. I'm kinda proud of what I do and proud of what I am. Everybody else goes to work each day, but I say what the heck. I'll go down to the bank and cash my welfare check. With a cold beer in my hand, I sit in front of my ole T.V. There's not a man on wall street that lives half as good as me. Now if I get a little hungry, you know what I'll go and do. I'll go and poacl me a deer, or maybe I'll make it two. My wife at times raises cain with me, her advice I just ignore. You see she don't want me to spit my red man on her hardwood floor. I just laugh and grin, wipe the dripples on my shirt. I say to my little woman, now a little bit of spit won't hurt. For nigh on to ten years now, I tried to make a redneck out of her. She already talks a little like me when she says, "what fur" I guess I'll always be a redneck, I don't mind them making fun. But they'd better not rile me too danged much, for you see I pack a gun. Don't take me to some big city, I'd be lost two miles out of town. Besides I want to be here in the country when it comes time to put me down. Take my name off of my belt, lock me up and throw away the key. But you'll never take the country or the redneck out of me. J.D.
