Mddred Opal Brown Gullikson
Mildred Brown was born January 23, 1904 at
Osmond, Nebraska, the daughter of Arthur and
Caroline Houston Brown and died June 2, 2004
at her home in Steelville, Missouri at the age of
100 years, four months and 10 days.
In 1905 the family moved to Plainview,
Nebraska where they lived until 1919 when
they moved to Whitewater, Wisconsin. She
attended school there and graduated from
Whitewater High School in 1922.
She attended Whitewater Normal and State
Teacher's College and taught in rural schools in
Jefferson County for 10 years.
On October 29, 1932 she married Burton
Gullikson of Rockdale, Wisconsin. In 1937 they
moved to Fort Atkinson where she resided until
2001 when she moved to Steelville, Missouri.
She was a member of Friedens United Church
of Christ in Fort Atkinson.
She is survived by two daughters and one
son: Lucile Urban of San Diego, California;
Carol Parker of Steelville, Missouri and George
Gullikson of Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is also
survived by nine grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren and two great great grandchil-
dren.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
her parents and four sisters.
A memorial service at Dunlap Funeral Home,
Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin will be held at a later
date.
Local arrangements were under the direction
of the Hutson Funeral Home of Steelville,
Missouri.
Betty Gean Park
Betty G. Park, nee Smith, of Cuba, Missouri,
was born June 2, 1924 at Indianapolis,
Indiana, a daughter of the late William Smith
and Florence (Hazelrigg) Smith. Betty entered
eternal rest on June 10, 2004 at Barnes Jewish
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 80
years and 8 days.
Betty was united in marriage to Thomas L.
Park on January 16, 1943 at Alton, Illinois.
They enjoyed over 61 years together until
Betty's passing. From this union, two sons and
a daughter were born.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preced-
ed in death by her son Thomas Park.
Among those who remain to mourn her pass-

ing are her loving husband Thomas Park of
Cuba, Missouri; devoted son William Park and
wife Victoria; devoted daughter Judith (Park)
Downing; seven grandchildren, seven great
grandchildren, other relatives and many dear
friends.
Betty was a very loving wife, mother, grand-
mother, great grandmother and good friend.
She will always be fondly remembered and
deeply missed.
Private services with interment and commit-
tal prayers at Upper Alton Cemetery, Alton,
Illinois, will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were under the directi°nof the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Edward H. Schumacher, Sr.
Edward H. Schumacher, Sr., entered into rest
Friday, June 11, 2004 at 80 years of age;
beloved husband of the late Margaret
Schumacher; dear father of Edward, Jr. (Carol)
and the late Barbara Schumacher; dear brother
of Lucille Winkler, Leo Schumacher and Mary
T. Haynes; our dear grandfather, great-grand-
father, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Interment St. Trinity Cemetery.
Mr. Schumacher was a 50-year member of
the International Union of Operating
Engineers, Local 513 and a longtime member
of the Democratic Club of Bourbon, Mo.
Thomas L. Whitt
Thomas L. Whitt, 82 years old, of Texarkana,
Arkansas died June 6, 2004.
He was born in Hope, Arkansas, lived in St.
Louis and Cuba, Missouri.
He is survived by his four daughters and son-
in-laws, Jerrie and Stan Capps, Florissant,
Mo., Judy and Bob Tiemann, Florissant, Mo.,
JoAnn and Dwight Todd, Arizona and Bob and
Kitty emm, St. Charles, Mo.; 10 grandchil-
dren, 14 great great grandchildren and four
great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ginny
Whitt (nee Schlattmann).
Services were held at Chappelwood Funeral
Home in Nash, Texas on June 9, with burial on
June 10.

eastbound and lost control of
his vehicle on wet pavement,
ran off the left side of the road
and into the median, where the
vehicle jack-knifed and over-
turned.
Olszewski was injured in the
accident and was taken to the
Phelps County Regional
Medical Center by North
Crawford County Ambulance.
He was not wearing a seat-
belt.
An accident occurred June 10
at 12:15 p.m. on Beckett Road,
five miles west of Sullivan
when a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire,
driven by Derick Keller, age 16,
Sullivan, Missouri, was north-
bound at a high rate of speed,
became airborne and Keller
lost control of the vehicle. It
then traveled off the right side

Injured in the accident were
Keller and Sean Doney, age 17,
Sullivan, Missouri. Both were
taken to the Missouri Baptist
Hospital at Sullivan by North
Crawford County Ambulance.
Keller was cited for careless
and imprudent driving and
failure to drive on the right half
of the road.
Both were wearing seatbelts.
An accident occurred June 13
at 3:40 p.m. on Riverside Road,
two miles east of Route K when
a 2001 Yamaha ATV, driven by
James Rickert, age 24, Granite
City, Illinois was eastbound
and traveled off the right side
of the road and struck a tree,
ejecting both occupants.
Injured in the accident were
Rickert and Jennifer Moke, age
19, Granite City, Illinois.
Rickert was taken to the
Missouri Baptist Hospital by
North Crawford Ambulance.
Moke was air lifted to St.
John's in St. Louis, Missouri.
Rickert was cited for leaving
the scene of an injury accident.
