Jeff was playing bass gui- tar for the Singing Americans at the time, and Sheri was traveling and singing with her family, The Lewis Family. Jeff wanted to get to know Sheri, so he went over and reminded Polly (Sheri's mother) who he was. He told her he was James Easter's son (of the Easter Brothers) and he'd given her the song "They're Holding Up the Ladder." Polly remembered him then, and she introduced him to Sheri. Jeff and Sheri were mar- ried on June 18, 1985. After their marriage, Jeff and Sheri traveled and sang with the Lewis Family. Jeff and Sheri were part of The Lewis Family until the end of 1988. Their first child, Madison Allen, was born November 26, 1988, and with his birth they decided they needed to be on their own. They had recorded two tapes already, A New Tradition and Home Folks, and their first sin- gle, "There's a Higher Power" had charted at #6 on the Singing News chart. Through the years they've won numerous awards, includ- ing a Dove Award in 1998 for Country Recorded Album of the Theatre Year, A Work in Progress and just recently accepted a Dove Award for Country Song of the Year for "Goin Away Party." Sheri has won the Singing News Favorite Alto award 8 times and Female Vocalist 4 times. .The Gospel Voice Diamond Awards presented Sheri with Favorite Female vocalist several times, and the group won Christian Country Group and Christian Country Song in 1996. They've been nominated for several Dove Awards and even a Grammy. Jeff has been involved with music all his life, first with his family The Easter Brothers, and later he played with Gold City, the Singing Americans and the Lewis Family. Sheri began singing with a group from her church called Present Truth, then she sang with The Lewis Family until she and Jeff formed their own group. In 1989 Sheri became a mcmber of a female trio called Heirloom. In that same year, the trio won a Dove Award for Country Album of the Year. Sheri was featured on their first single to Southern Gospel radio "There's Still Power in the Blood." She joined them for another project recorded in 1995 entitled Hymns That Last Forever, making Heirloom a female quartet with group members Tanya Goodman-Sykes, Candy Hemphill Christmas, Barbara Fairchild and Sheri. Jeff and Sheri had a dream to build their own home, and when Madison was still a baby they saw that dream come true. They bought a recording studio in 1993 which has since been moved to their back yard. Jeff and Sheri's daughter, Morgan Taylor, was born at National Quartet Convention time in 1993. In 1996 Jeff & Sheri did their first concept video on "Let the Little Things Go." They recorded it at the Texas State Capitol in Austin. The video won Best Concept Video from the Hearts of Flame Awards. Today, Jeff and Sheri's group includes drummer Greg Ritchie, soprano harmony singer Charlotte Ritchie, and instrumentalist Bryan Carter. Jeff and Sheri continue to share the gospel through their music, bringing hope and encouragement to people every- where they go.
